Franchise Industry's Going Full Speed Ahead
by Seth Jermyn

In the mid to late 1990s, the franchise industry ran into a
roadblock ~ Entrepreneurs were avoiding the franchise world
after watching the world's economy take a tumble. However,
the parents of these franchises didn't give up. They found
ways to stay the course and watch their franchises come out
winners. A win-win situation was developed after rethinking
ways to appeal to the market. Today's franchise market is
again running full force with an even better charisma and
potential for success.

Over the past several years, certain franchise industries ~
food, fitness and investment - are faring better than
others. According to Entrepreneur magazine, these
particular franchise industries are expected to get even
better. Topping Entrepreneur's 2005 Franchise500 list for
the 13th year in a row is Subway. In second is Curves, for
the second year in a row. What makes these franchises
succeed more than others? Basically, America is looking for
a healthier way of living and these franchises match their
agenda. In fact, many fast foods like Subway and Quiznos
are changing their menus to match this health fixation.
Other fast foods that are also in the race are Dunkin'
Donuts and Sonic Drive-In.

Also, Americans are looking for ways to spend and invest
their income in a smarter way. Thus, investment companies
like RE/MAX and Jackson Hewitt Tax Service are among the top
fastest-growing franchises. Another push in America is from
health insurance companies and employers to get people to
manage their medical bills better. Hence, lots of health
and fitness centers are immensely popular. In fact, more
people now belong to a health club than never before in
history. Curves and Jenny Craig, in particular, are
benefiting from this and leading the fitness and weight loss
industry. Entrepreneur notes that this category has
increased from 8 to 17 listing on its Fortune500 list.

Americans aren't the only population influencing growth
among franchises. Many top franchises are better known
overseas than in their American homeland. For instance,
Jani King - the number one commercial cleaning franchise
company on Entrepreneur's 2005 list and on the top 10 list
overall - has 100 regional offices in 16 countries.
Another commercial cleaner not far below Jani-King on the
list is Coverall Cleaning Concepts, out of Fort Lauderdale,
Florida. Both commercial cleaning services are training its
franchise owners and workers in anti-terrorism.

Should you jump out and join the franchise industry's
success? Before deciding on a franchise, consult with a
franchise expert such as FranChoice and then select a
franchise that matches your ambition and desires. Visit
